Pre-Qualification

Meet with your bankers/financiers and find out how much you can afford to pay for the property you intend to buy.

Pre-Approval

While establishing how much you can afford is the first step, property sellers are much more receptive to potential buyers who have been pre-approved. You also avoid being embarrassed when going for properties that are out of your reach. With a pre-approval the buyer actually applies for a loan/mortgage and receives a commitment in writing from a lender.

 This way, assuming the home you are interested in is at or under the amount you are pre-qualified for, the seller knows immediately that you are a serious buyer of the property.

List of Needs & Wants

Make 2 lists. The first should include items you must  have(ie location, no off bedrooms you need,, type Maisonette, Apartments, town house, in gated community etc. The second list is your wishes, things would like to have( pool, garden etc)

Representation by a Professional

Consider hiring your own your real estate agent, one who is working for you, the buyer, not the seller. Most importantly engage a lawyer-legal practitioner, valuer  in all your property dealings.
